Sunday School

Sunday School

“I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word…Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path…All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.” Psalm 119:16, 105, 160 (NIV)

Because the Scriptures are foundational to our lives as Christians, we offer many avenues for us to learn and ingest the Scriptures so that we may live every day in the truth and power of God’s Word. We offer teaching and training for all ages, from young children to senior citizens. We would love for you to take advantage of the opportunity to learn with us and to use your gifts to help others learn.

 Adult Sunday School

9:40 A.M.-10:40 A.M.

(August 30 – June 12)

We offer age-appropriate classes for children and youth. Sunday school classes for children meet on the first and second floors of the Christian Education Building. High schoolers meet in small groups that are age and gender specific to hear and discuss God’s word. We also offer a variety of learning opportunities for college students and adults. The format, subject, and style of the classes vary but the end result is discipleship that leads us to be more like Christ.

Paul Young: A diligent Bible study led by Dr. Young who engages his class and encourages discussion and feedback.

Mike Jordan: This class will be reading the book, Joy in Our Weakness by Marva Dawn.

Kaleidoscope: A variety of topics is discussed in this class from missions to personal spiritual battles we encounter in today’s world. Teachers include experts who either live in Houghton or are passing through. Missionaries often come and share with this class as well.

When Moms Pray: Led by Sally Johnson, this group supports each other in their role as moms. Often a book is used to challenge and encourage the members. Quality times of prayer for one another are always a part of this gathering.

Another Adult Sunday School Class: This class is geared to all adults whether young or old, married or single. The class leader prayerfully considers and selects a book to guide the class in healthy, lively discussions that deepen our faith in Christ.
