Welcome

Welcome

…to Houghton Wesleyan Church!

Our passion is to joyfully love God and wholeheartedly serve others. We view the church as a hospital where all of us in our brokenness experience the love of Christ. We desire to be a safe place to share life together and to progress in our journey with God through biblical teaching and by encouraging each other to be loving witnesses of Christ’s grace and truth.

What to Expect

Services begin with a time of corporate singing followed by announcements and prayer time, including the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer. A weekly offering is collected, in which visitors are welcome but not expected to participate. The remaining time includes a sermon from one of our pastors. Pastor Wes Oden is our Senior Pastor who typically preaches. Listen to a sermon from our archived sermon series  or watch a service on Facebook or from the Streamspot archive. There is not a dress code at HWC. Most people are dressed casual. You will see everything from jeans to ties and sport coats.

Coffee and Fellowship

Between services, coffee, hot chocolate, and tea are available in the foyer of the sanctuary as well as the  community room. Grab a cup, meet some new friends, refresh, and enjoy fellowship!

Connect

There are many ways to get involved. Joining a Sunday School class or a small group is an excellent way to engage with others outside of the worship service. Small groups and classes provide opportunities to connect, a place to belong and foster growth in your relationship with Christ. Small groups provide an opportunity to encourage and support others and to be encouraged and supported yourself.  Serving in one or more of the various ministries and serving teams of the church is also a way to connect. Volunteers are a vital part of our church; you are invited and encouraged to use your gifts to serve people who are a part of the church and people who are not, both locally and globally.   If you would like to talk with someone personally, give us a call:   585-567-2264.  We would love to answer your questions and help you get connected.
